2009 Annual Report

Due to the economy, 2009 was a tough year for many non-profit organizations. However, here at West End Neighborhood House, we understood that the community needed our services and assistance more than ever. To meet the needs of our thousands of customers - and the thousands of new Delawareans in need - we bolstered many of our services and created new programs, such as our Employment & Training program.

West End Neighborhood House is a unique, highly effective non-profit organization dedicated to helping individuals achieve self-sufficiency, reach and maintain their maximum potential, and live responsibly and harmoniously in a healthy community and complex world.
West End has a rich 125-year-old tradition of providing innovative solutions to complex and dynamic social challenges throughout the Delaware community.

West End to Launch New Comprehensive Youth Development Program!

We are proud to announce that West End’s Youth Development Department has been awarded a grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (Office of Adolescent Health) to replicate the scientifically proven successful Carrera Adolescent Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program. With nearly $3 million in funding over the next five years, West End will implement this comprehensive youth development model which focuses on the whole child, and includes areas such as education, employment, family life and sexuality, self-expression, lifetime individual sports, medical and dental care, and mental health. In partnership with Westside Family Healthcare, Junior Achievement of Delaware, and Jewish Family Services of Delaware, this program will target both middle school and high school youth, ages 12 – 19.
