Steady rain kept the crowds away from Return Day 2010 in downtown Georgetown. The unique event, dating back to as early as 1792, is believed to be the only celebration of its kind in the United States. Election winners and losers ride together in carriages and antique cars in a parade considered the highlight of Return Day, followed by the reading of the election returns. Ravens scrap with Delmar Cats for 4-1 victory

An original Howard Schroeder watercolor painting of the Life Saving Station at the Lightship Overfalls is one of the auction items available at the Marine Education Research and Rehabilitations annual Fin-Raiser on Saturday, Nov. 6, at the Lewes Yacht Club. Also featured are full- and half-day sailing excursions, professional portrait sittings, photographs from Kevin Flemings latest book Wild Delmarva, as well as the book itself, and many other unique items. All proceeds from the event go to the nonprofit MERR and its efforts with the numerous stranded marine mammals and turtles in Delaware. The Sussex County Republican Womens Cub and President Pam Fitzgerald were busy recently delivering books for the Mamie Eisenhower Library Project. Some of the libraries included Lewes, which received American Patriots by former Secretary of Education William Bennett; Milton, which received The Secret of Sarah Revere by Ann Rinaldi; and Rehoboth Beach, which received We Still Hold These Truths by Matthew Spalding.
